Commission District: 4

Answering the questions proposed: 1. What programs and services of Sedgwick County’s strategic plan do you feel are the most critical to the community? I think that the work done between human services and public safety are important to assuring a healthy population able to enjoy the other services Sedgwick County has to offer its citizens. The most important of these are interdisciplinary activities that focus on prevention, early detection, and early addressing of issues that occur in our social environments. The utilization of these interdisciplinary teams can reduce the need for incarceration, reduce the long-term effects of trauma, and assure a healthier population moving forward. I see this is a priority in the plan and hope SGCO will take the opportunity to build a strong interdisciplinary program and evaluate it – potentially innovating and making a model for other municipalities. 2. Do you feel anything should be added to Sedgwick County’s strategic plan? No. 3. How would you describe Sedgwick County government in three or fewer words? Solvent. Stable. 4. Anything else you want to share regarding Sedgwick County strategic plan? The strategic plan, as drafted, indicates to me that there is going to be a lot of work done in the next 12-24 months. It also appears that some items may be dependent upon others before they can be accomplished. It would be great to see this as a Gantt chart showing where the strategies are dependent upon another division. This way, as a citizen, I can ask good questions of my commissioner and other officials about the progress of activities that I am paying attention to.
